Easy Three Ingredient Plum Jam

Two weeks ago, our plum tree was full of almost ripe plums.

We went on vacation for 5 days and when we got home (and paid attention to the tree), they were already falling down — super bummer!Plum Jam 2

My kids aren’t into mushy plums, so I quickly made up my THREE INGREDIENT PLUM JAM with the super ripe plums that I wish we would’ve caught the prior week. Ha!

Here’s that simple recipe —>

Prep time about 10 minutes

Cook time about 20 minutes

Makes about 2 cups

  • roughly 3 pounds plums, peeled and seed removed
  • zest and juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1/4 cup honey or pure maple syrup, or more, depending on how ripe plums are
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds, optional

  1. Place plums and lemon zest into a small saucepan. Cook on medium heat for about 5 minutes until it comes to a boil. Stir in chia seeds, if using.
  2. Turn heat to low and cook another 10 minutes, until plums are soft. Stir occasionally.
  3. Add in honey and lemon juice and cook another couple of minutes. Taste and add additional sweetener, if needed. Cook a few more minutes to thicken if it’s runny on you (it will thicken more as it cools).
  4. Once it’s to your liking, pour into a small mason jar and seal. Store in the fridge for up to a week. Enjoy!

*Tips* Feel free to swap or mix up your stone fruits. I’ve done this recipe with peaches, nectarines and apricots with yummy success.
