Fajita and Taco Seasoning

Ever look on the back of most spice mixes? Yikes!

Talk about C-R-A-P ingredients.

I pulled this straight from the McCormick website. It’s the Fajita Spice packet.

“Spices (Including Cumin, Chili Pepper, And Oregano), Corn Maltodextrin, Onion, Salt, Corn Syrup Solids, Garlic, Citric Acid, Caramel Color, Lime Juice Solids, Modified Corn Starch, And Natural Flavors.”

Stay away from the artificial convenience items and make your own at home. They save time, money and your health. And they taste WAY better! For realz!

This goes perfect with my Steak Fajita Lettuce Wrap recipe.

And here’s an awesome tip for you — instead of buying a jar of each individual spice, try shopping at stores that carry their spices in BULK. Whole Foods, Sprouts Markets and Food Max (I think) carry their dried spices in a bigger bin so all you have to do is buy the amount you need, leaving little room for waste. Save your money, YO!

1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon coriander
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper

Place all ingredients into a small mason jar or an empty baby food jar, seal and give it a good shake. Be sure to label it. Stores well in a dark, dry place. Feel free to double or triple the recipe so you’ll always have extra on hand.

Got your own fave recipes you make at home that skip the markets artificial ones? POST them BELOW! :)
